9%, 7%, 4%, 2%: which one applies to you depends on your category and your eligibility, not on which number you heard first.
TikTok Shop's standard EU platform commission is 9% on completed orders, since 8 January 2026. Electronics and a few adjacent categories pay 7%. New sellers opening their first-ever EU shop can get a temporary discount: 4% for 60 days in France, Germany, Spain, Italy or Ireland, or 2% for 90 days in eight other EU markets. It is not automatic: you have 15 days to accept it and list at least 5 in-stock products, and you lose it permanently if you miss that window. Already selling in any EU country? You don't qualify for the discount in a new one.
The platform commission is the percentage of completed order value TikTok Shop takes for using the platform. Since 8 January 2026, 00:00 CET, the standard EU rate is 9% on all orders, inclusive of applicable taxes. It's deducted directly from the order payout, there's no separate invoice to pay.
Returns affect it directly: a full order return refunds the full commission, a partial return or refund only refunds the commission on the returned items.
A handful of categories get a permanently reduced rate, not tied to any promotion:
| Category | Rate |
|---|---|
| Household Appliances | 7% |
| Phones & Electronics (devices, tech accessories, consoles, cameras, audio) | 7% |
| Phones & Electronics (cases, screen protectors, stands) | 9% |
| Computers & Office Equipment (hardware) | 7% |
| Beauty & Personal Care (electric devices: hair tools, shavers, electric toothbrushes) | 7% |
| Beauty & Personal Care (cosmetics, skincare, fragrance) | 9% |
| Automotive: Car Electronics | 7% |
| Pre-Owned: phones, smartwatches, tablets | 7% |
| Everything else (fashion, food, home, health, toys, pet, sports, baby, books) | 9% |
The 7% only holds if the listing is correctly categorized. If TikTok's review reclassifies it, the discount goes with it, and on a mixed catalog, only the eligible items get the lower rate.
Since 15 June 2026, brands opening their first-ever TikTok Shop in the EU can qualify for a temporary reduction, but only if all three conditions hold:
| Countries | Rate | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Ireland | 9% → 4% | 60 days |
| Poland, Netherlands, Belgium, Czechia, Austria, Greece, Portugal, Hungary | 9% → 2% | 90 days |
It isn't applied automatically. Eligible sellers get a mission in Seller Center → Growth Opportunities, with 15 calendar days to accept it and list at least 5 in-stock products. Miss that window and the discount is gone for good, not paused, gone. The benefit is per-country: registering in one EU market opens shops automatically in the others, and each applies its own country's rate once the mission is completed anywhere. It's also not stackable with other incentives, and electronics reverts to the 7% category rate once the discount window ends.
Already selling in an EU country? New shops you open in other EU countries are not eligible for this discount. Standard rates (9%, or 7% for electronics) apply from day one.
On €20,000 of monthly sales in Italy, standard 9% commission is €1,800/month. During a qualifying 60-day window at 4%, it's €800, a €1,000/month difference kept in margin, before creator commissions, logistics or any other platform fee. The catch is in the conditions: this only holds for a genuine first EU registration, with the mission accepted and completed inside 15 days, in one of the five higher-discount countries. Miss any one of those and the shop opens at the standard rate like any other.
Mapping eligibility correctly and timing the mission is exactly the kind of detail that decides whether a launch captures the discount or not, and it's not something you get a second attempt at once the shop is live. It's the first thing we model before a brand's shop goes live in our TikTok Shop launch pilot.
The standard rate is 9% of completed order value, in effect since 8 January 2026. Electronics and a few adjacent categories get a reduced 7% rate.
No. Eligible new sellers get 4% for 60 days in France, Germany, Spain, Italy or Ireland, or 2% for 90 days in Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Czechia, Austria, Greece, Portugal or Hungary.
Eligible first-time EU sellers receive it as a mission in Seller Center Growth Opportunities. It must be accepted and completed, at least 5 in-stock products listed, within 15 calendar days, or it's lost permanently.
No. The discount is only for a brand's first-ever EU TikTok Shop registration. Already selling in one EU country makes new shops in other countries ineligible, so the standard 9% (or 7% category rate) applies.
